Travel Diaries: Hong Kong

A gorgeous view en route to my birthplace, Hong Kong!
Hello all! Hope you are all keeping cool wherever you are, because here in Hong Kong, the weather has been nothing but muggy, hot, and humid (not to mention there was a level 10 typhoon within days of my arrival!).

With the exception of today, I have been out and about from about 9 AM to 10 PM daily and since this time my boyfriend came along as well, I volunteered to be his tour guide and translator. It was his first time to Asia and I definitely wanted my hometown to make a good first impression! Needless to say, we ate. A LOT. Buuuuut we definitely worked for every meal since we got around mainly by MTR and foot. Oh, and did I mention we also added weights into that routine? How you ask? Well, for the sole purpose of good health in mind, we hit a few fantastic multi-level shopping centers and made sure to buy as much as we could in order to work out our arms. Carrying lots of shopping bags around a mall, up and down stairs and on public transportation is definitely a workout. Genius idea, I know, which leads me to my next inquiry: would any of you read a new series on this blog titled, "Shop n Drop," focusing on how to shop and drop calories at the same time? Let me know in the comments below!

ANYWAY- Enjoy some photos from my trip thus far.
Street food vendors, or dai pai dong, open late & sell a variety of delicious snacks
like curry fish balls, dumplings, & assorted skewers.
ZOMGADORABLERIGHT?! Please note the teddy bear pin & giant red ribbon. BOSS.
Also note the underdressed fellow in the aisle. Tsk tsk tsk *shakes head*

So fresh!

Highlights: Ate toro for the 1st time, reunited with most of my cousins & relatives, explored nightlife with friends, bought 2 adorable camera straps for my dslr, and did some fantastic shopping (haul coming up, of course).

Where's your hometown and how often do you visit? What do you love most about it?

Looks like you're having a great time! =] I can't wait to go to HK one day.
Your bf's tie clip looks so cool! I want to buy one for my boyfriend now, lol.

To answer your question, I was born in the USA, but I was raised in Shanghai in my baby years, so I think of it as my home away from home. I typically go back every 5-7 years?
This is corny: What I love most is getting to see all my extended family members. =P
Shanghai's ok, kind of a tourist trap, too much construction, tourism, smog, pollution. Ok it's a great city too, lots of good food and culture, and all that. I shouldn't be so negative haha

Great pics!!! Hope you had a lovely time in HK!!! Those fishball pics are making me droooool!! Looks so so yum!! God. My fave shopping mall is IFC! So many lovely shops and pretty things there! There's also the most lovely cinema! Plus, it's right next to the Four Seasons, whose cafe and bar is the perfect stopover during shopping days!!
